As previously announced, Sonos has released S2, "a new app and operating system (OS) that will power the next generation of Sonos products and experiences". What's new with S2?S2 was built with future updates and features in mind. This means upgraded audio processing to support higher resolution/high-bandwidth technology like Dolby Atmos ("4K for the ears"), an improved design, increased security, and Sonos' newest software features. How Does This Affect My Existing Sonos System? If your Sonos products are S2 compatible (see below) you can open the S1 app and will be given steps to update to the S2 app. All of your settings and preferences will carry over automatically. If you have products that are not S2 compatible, S1 will still be available and updated with bug fixes and security patches. You also have options like trading in your S2 incompatible products for new discounted Sonos products or even split your home system across S1 and S2.
